External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced Sunday that India and China will soon resume patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, following a breakthrough agreement aimed at easing border tensions. Signed on October 21, the MoU lifts restrictions in areas like Demchok and Depsang, restoring pre-2020 arrangements. Jaishankar credited both diplomatic and military efforts for the progress, noting Indian forces’ resilience in difficult conditions. Troop disengagement in these friction points is expected by October 28-29, while discussions continue for other contested areas to ensure long-term stability at the border.
