Jaishankar Credits “Team Effort” for India-China Border Deal, Calls for Patience in Normalization

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar commended India’s military and diplomatic efforts for securing a border agreement with China to resume patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh. Speaking in Pune, he emphasized the challenge of operating in harsh conditions and acknowledged the “team effort” behind this breakthrough. Jaishankar highlighted substantial improvements in India’s border infrastructure and revealed that Prime Minister Modi and President Xi discussed relations at the recent BRICS summit. He cautioned that normalizing relations would take time, with trust-building and gradual disengagement as priorities.
