Odisha Closes Konark Temple as Cyclone Dana Approaches; Six Districts in West Bengal on High Alert

The Konark Temple in Odisha will be closed on October 24 and 25 as Cyclone Dana approaches the eastern coast. Six districts in West Bengal, including North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, East Medinipur, and West Medinipur, are on high alert for the cyclone, which is expected to make landfall between Odisha’s Puri and West Bengal’s Ganga Sagar early on October 25. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of wind speeds at landfall reaching 100-110 km per hour, gusting up to 120 kmph. Kolkata, located about 250 km from the landfall zone, may experience wind speeds of 50 to 60 kmph.
