India and China have agreed to restore patrolling rights in the Depsang Plains and Demchok areas, key locations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. This decision marks a significant step in addressing the military standoff that arose after Chinese incursions in 2020. The agreement allows Indian troops to patrol up to old patrolling points (PP) 10 to 13 in the Depsang Plains and Charding Nullah in Demchok. However, the situation remains unchanged at other friction points, such as Galwan Valley and Pangong Tso, where disengagement and buffer zones were established two years ago.
