Schools and anganwadi centres in parts of Odisha will close from Wednesday as Cyclone "Dana" approaches. The storm is developing over the Bay of Bengal and is expected to make landfall between Puri in Odisha and Sagar Island in West Bengal on the night of October 24 or early morning of October 25. Heavy rainfall and wind speeds of 100-110 km/h, gusting up to 120 km/h, are anticipated, particularly in coastal districts. In preparation, the Odisha government has initiated safety measures, including evacuations, tourist advisories, and the establishment of cyclone shelters to reduce potential casualties and damage.
