Indian envoy Sanjay Kumar Verma, recalled after being labeled a "person of interest" in the Hardeep Singh Nijjar murder investigation, accused Canada of sheltering Khalistani extremists. In an interview, Verma claimed these extremists are "deep assets" of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government encourages them. He emphasized that Khalistani extremists are Canadian citizens undermining Indian sovereignty, stressing India’s core concerns. Canada accused Indian agents of Nijjar's murder, a charge India called "absurd and motivated." Verma denied all allegations and reiterated the need for concrete evidence from Canada.
