Sanjay Kumar Verma, the outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Canada, accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of harming India-Canada relations. In an interview, Verma said Trudeau’s actions have made sure that "bilateral relations with India only go downwards, spiraling down." Verma criticized Trudeau for publicly accusing India of involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar without providing hard evidence. “On the basis of intelligence, if you want to destroy a relationship, be my guest,” Verma added. India recalled Verma after Canada named him a "person of interest" in the investigation.
