A Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon fighter jet was scrambled on Thursday to intercept an Air India flight bound for London after a bomb threat was received. The aircraft, which was en route from Mumbai, safely landed at Heathrow Airport. The RAF confirmed the Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon jets were launched to investigate, with the aircraft cleared to continue to its destination after an uneventful interception. The sonic boom from the jets, authorized to transit at supersonic speed, was heard across East Anglia, England. Authorities are now managing the situation under civilian control.
