Heavy rains and floods in Nepal have claimed 59 lives, with 44 still missing as rescue teams continue their operations. Since Friday, large swathes of the country have been inundated, with rivers around Kathmandu bursting their banks, flooding nearby homes. Over 200 incidents of floods and landslides have been reported, affecting transportation and stranding hundreds of travelers. Authorities deployed more than 3,000 security personnel, helicopters, and motorboats for rescue efforts. "I had never seen such devastation," said Mahamad Shabuddin, a local resident. So far this year, over 220 people have died in rain-related disasters across Nepal.
