Heavy rains in Nepal have caused severe floods and landslides, resulting in at least 66 deaths and 69 people reported missing. The Kathmandu valley, home to 4 million residents, suffered 34 fatalities. In response, the government has closed all schools for three days and halted ongoing exams. Major highways are blocked in 63 locations, and 226 homes have been submerged. Acting Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh convened an emergency meeting to coordinate rescue efforts. Approximately 3,000 security personnel are deployed, and authorities emphasize that rescuing affected individuals is the current priority.
