S Jaishankar Stresses Bangladesh Ties, Says 'Neighbours Dependent on Each Other'

India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, emphasized the importance of maintaining stable relations with Bangladesh during an interview. Referring to the recent political turmoil in Bangladesh, where former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned due to student-led unrest, Jaishankar stated that it was Bangladesh's "internal matter." He underlined that India values its relationship with Bangladesh, citing strong trade and people-to-people ties. Hasina reportedly fled Dhaka to seek asylum, but India has given her time to decide her next steps. Nobel laureate Md Yunus, now Bangladesh’s interim leader, emphasized the need for equality in bilateral relations with India.
