The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the formation of Cyclone 'Asna' over the Arabian Sea on Friday, a rare occurrence in August. This will be the first cyclone in the month since 1976, with only three such storms recorded in the region since 1891. Cyclone Asna is expected to move from the Saurashtra-Kutch area of Gujarat towards the Oman coast, following a similar trajectory to the 1976 cyclone, which formed over Odisha and weakened near Oman. The IMD has issued a warning for the rare August storm, which is expected to impact the region in the coming days.
