The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next four to five days. The alert, effective from August 24, warns of intense rain affecting these areas. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also issued a cautionary SMS to Mumbai residents, advising them to be vigilant as heavy rainfall is expected in the city and its suburbs within the next 3-4 hours. Authorities are urging residents to stay informed and prepared for possible weather-related disruptions.
