A volcano in Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula erupted on Thursday for the sixth time since December. Lava and smoke began to flow from a 3.9 km long crack at the Sundhnúks crater row. The Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO) had detected earthquake activity earlier, indicating an eruption was likely. The lava is currently not threatening the nearby town of Grindavik, which was evacuated during an earlier eruption. Authorities continue to monitor the situation. Iceland’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the eruption’s impact is limited, and no one is in immediate danger.
