India Clarifies Bangladesh Floods Not Caused by Tripura Dam Water Release

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarified on Thursday that the recent floods in Bangladesh were not caused by the release of water from Tripura's Dumbur dam. The MEA stated that the floods resulted from heavy rains in the catchment areas of the Gumti river, which flows through both India and Bangladesh. The Dumbur dam, located over 120 km from the Bangladesh border, was not the primary cause. The MEA emphasized the need for close cooperation between the two nations to address shared challenges posed by floods on cross-border rivers.
