The flood situation in Tripura worsened on Wednesday, with the death toll reaching 10 and over 34,000 people displaced due to continuous heavy rainfall over the past 72 hours. The relentless downpour caused several rivers to rise above danger levels, leading to severe flooding across the state. The government has established 346 relief camps to accommodate those affected. According to the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), 1,056 houses have been damaged—82 completely, 311 severely, and 663 partially. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, with officials highlighting that such prolonged and intense rainfall, leading to widespread devastation, is unprecedented in the state’s history.
