India Suspends Train Services With Bangladesh as Protests Topple Sheikh Hasina

India suspended all train services with Bangladesh after violent protests forced PM Sheikh Hasina to flee. The Maitri Express, running between Kolkata and Dhaka, and the Bandhan Express, between Kolkata and Khulna, remain canceled. Over 300 people have died in the protests, which began against government job quotas and escalated into calls for Hasina’s resignation. Jubilant crowds stormed her residence, looting and celebrating. Bangladesh’s army chief, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, announced he would form an interim government, taking full responsibility to stabilize the country.
