Srinagar witnessed its hottest July day in 25 years, recording a temperature of 35.7°C, which is six degrees above normal. This temperature exceeded those of major cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The heatwave has caused water shortages, prompting the health department to issue advisories and the school education department to declare a 10-day summer vacation starting July 8. The meteorological department forecasts relief with intermittent rain and thundershowers from July 8-10. However, residents are warned of potential flash floods and landslides, advised to stay updated on weather alerts and follow precautions.
