Monsoon rains are expected to intensify in coastal Kerala, Karnataka, and Konkan Goa this week, according to the India Meteorological Department. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are predicted, prompting schools to shut in Goa and six districts in Kerala on Monday. A red alert has been issued in parts of Goa and three districts in Kerala, while an orange alert has been issued in five other districts. The heavy rain has led to a declaration of holiday for schools up to Class 12 in Goa and closure of schools and colleges in six districts in Kerala.
