The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and the Konkan belt, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday. A monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation have developed over Mumbai, bringing strong westerly winds and a high likelihood of intense rainfall. The alert also covers Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts. Mumbai has already seen 422 mm of rainfall between July 7-9, with 268 mm recorded in just 24 hours. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay prepared for potential flooding.
