The government has decided to reserve 10% of constable posts in CISF, BSF, and RPF for ex-Agniveers. These former soldiers will also get age relaxations and exemptions in physical tests. In the first year, the age relaxation will be five years, and in later years, it will be three years. CISF, BSF, and RPF leaders believe this move will bring disciplined and trained personnel to their forces. The Agnipath scheme, introduced in 2022, recruits young soldiers for four years, with 25% retained for longer service.
