Canada's largest gold heist has stunned authorities as over 6,500 gold bars, valued at CA$20 million, were stolen from Toronto's Pearson International Airport last April. Peel Regional Police suspect the gold was swiftly smuggled to the Middle East or South Asia, particularly India or Dubai. Det. Sgt. Mike Mavity noted the high possibility of the gold being melted down in these markets. Investigations have led to the arrest of nine individuals, including a jewelry store owner and an ex-Air Canada manager. Only CA$90,000 has been recovered so far, with the majority of the gold still unaccounted for.
