Devprakash Madhukar, the main suspect in the Hathras stampede, was arrested in Delhi. Madhukar allegedly collected donations and organized the event without proper procedure. The stampede killed 121 people. Police arrested two more suspects, Ram Prakash Shakya and Sanju Yadav, bringing the total arrests to nine. Madhukar, a close aide of preacher Suraj Pal, is suspected of having political connections. Police are investigating Pal’s funding sources. Madhukar, previously an MGNREGA worker, saw a rapid rise in Pal’s organization, handling significant cash transactions. He has been placed in 14 days' judicial custody.
