The post-mortem reports of the Hathras tragedy, which claimed 121 lives, have revealed that chest injuries and suffocation were the primary causes of death. The reports, conducted by eight doctors at Agra's SN Medical College, found that most victims died due to rib cage rupture, internal bleeding, and accumulation of blood near the chest. Head injuries, shock, and hemorrhage were also listed as contributing factors. The Chief Medical Officer confirmed that the findings are consistent with typical stampede fatalities. The tragedy has raised questions about crowd control and public safety measures.
