At least 116 people died in a stampede during Bhole Baba’s satsang in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district on July 2, 2024. Overcrowding, as attendees exceeded the permitted 80,000, led to chaos. Devotees, rushing to touch the preacher’s feet, caused a fatal crush. The Uttar Pradesh government has blamed both the event organizers and local administration for negligence.
