IAF, Assam Rifles Rescues 21 Stranded in Assam Floods, Relief Efforts Underway

The Indian Air Force(IAF) and Assam Rifles has successfully rescued 21 people stranded in severe flooding in Assam. Thirteen fishermen were airlifted from a riverine island in Dibrugarh district after being trapped for four days. Another eight State Disaster Response Force personnel and a revenue official were rescued from a sandbar in Jonai, Dhemaji district. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority coordinated the operations, which were deemed necessary due to turbulent river conditions. All rescued individuals received first aid and were escorted to their homes, ending their distressing ordeal. The ASDMA will cover the costs of the airlift. Over 6.5 lakh people are affected by the flooding across 19 districts in Assam.
