India has asked Canada to reduce the number of diplomats stationed in the country from 62 to 21, citing disproportionate representation and alleged interference in India's internal affairs. Arindham Bagchi said Canada has higher diplomatic presence and the two countries are discussing achieving parity. India justified the reduction by noting Canada has much higher diplomatic representation in the country. India's Ministry of External Affairs said discussions are ongoing to achieve parity in diplomatic presence after Canada's PM accused India of involvement in a terrorist killing. The two countries have been engaged in a diplomatic standoff since the accusations by Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
