Delhi may receive monsoon rains by June 29 or 30, according to private weather agency Skymet Weather Services. The India Meteorological Department has not confirmed the date. The monsoon current typically arrives in Delhi between June 27 and 29. Pre-monsoon showers have already brought some relief from the sweltering heat, with the city recording nine heatwave days in June so far. The maximum temperature dropped on Wednesday due to a western disturbance, providing some respite. Delhi's Safdarjung Observatory recorded a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal. The monsoon rains are expected to bring significant relief from the prevailing sultry conditions.
