External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced new initiatives to accelerate passport processing. On Passport Seva Divas, he highlighted efforts to reduce police verification times through collaboration with state and UT police forces. The Ministry has also expanded its network with over 440 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras and integrated the Passport Seva System with DigiLocker for digital document submission. The introduction of the “mPassport Police App” in 9,000 police stations aims to streamline communication and speed up verification. These measures enhance accessibility and efficiency, particularly benefiting rural areas.
