Saudi Arabia has reported a death toll of 1,301 during this year's Hajj pilgrimage, attributing 83% of the fatalities to unauthorised pilgrims who endured soaring temperatures near Mecca. Health Minister Fahd bin Abdurrahman Al-Jalajel disclosed that 95 pilgrims are receiving medical treatment, with some airlifted to Riyadh. Identification delays were noted due to the lack of documents among the deceased. The victims, including over 660 Egyptians, were primarily affected by the extreme heat, which reached between 46-49 degrees Celsius. Saudi authorities have cracked down on unauthorised pilgrims, expelling tens of thousands amid ongoing safety concerns.
