Heavy rainfall has forced hundreds of residents in Rock Valley, Iowa to evacuate their homes due to severe flooding. Sirens blared at 2 am, warning residents to leave as the Rock River overflowed its banks. The town lacks running water, and a state of emergency has been declared in 21 counties. Drone footage shows streets submerged, with only roofs and treetops visible. Neighboring South Dakota has also declared an emergency, with the town of Canton receiving 18 inches of rain. The flooding comes as much of the US swelters under extreme heat, with residents longing for relief.
