A Mumbai-based doctor, KH Patil, has been duped of Rs 7 lakh by scammers using a deepfake video of Mukesh Ambani endorsing a fake share trading academy. The video, seen on Instagram, showed Ambani promoting the "Rajiv Sharma Trade Group" and urging investments in "BCF Academy". Believing it genuine, Dr Patil searched online and found fake offices in London and Mumbai, convincing her of its legitimacy. She lost Rs 7 lakh to the scam. The incident highlights the growing concern of deepfake frauds and the need for caution online.
