IMD Predicts Relief from Heatwaves Until Monday; Monsoon Progresses Slowly

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced that no new heatwaves are expected in India until Monday, offering a respite from the intense heat that has affected regions since mid-April. Temperatures, previously ranging from 45-47°C, have been exacerbated by humidity and hot winds. Recent severe heatwaves were recorded in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Relief is anticipated as temperatures are set to stabilize and rainfall is expected in some regions. The southwest monsoon is gradually advancing, with progress observed in Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, but remains slow in eastern India.
