A tragic train collision occurred near Rangapani station in West Bengal's Darjeeling district. The incident involved a goods train colliding with the Kanchanjunga Express, which was en route from Silchar to Kolkata. As a result of the collision, five people lost their lives, and 25 passengers sustained injuries. Two coaches of the Kanchanjunga Express were derailed due to the impact. The collision took place in the Chicken's Neck corridor, crucial for connecting Northeastern India with the rest of the country. Immediate response teams including DM, SP, medical personnel, and ambulances were deployed for rescue operations. Efforts were also made to clear the tracks and provide alternative transportation for affected passengers.
