Death Toll of Keralites Rises to 24, With Seven Seriously Injured

A devastating fire in a seven-storey building in Mangaf, Ahmadi Governorate, Kuwait, has killed 49 foreign workers, including around 40 Indians, and injured 50 others. The blaze, which started in the kitchen around 4 a.m. on June 12, resulted in thick black smoke that suffocated many victims. Among the dead are 24 Keralites, with seven seriously injured. Kerala Health Minister Veena George will travel to Kuwait to assist affected families. The Kerala government, after a special Cabinet meeting, announced ₹5 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and ₹1 lakh for the injured.
