Kuwait Fire: Bodies of 42 Indians Charred Beyond Recognition, IAF to Repatriate Remains

A fire in a six-storey building in Mangaf, Kuwait, has claimed the lives of at least 42 Indians, with many bodies charred beyond recognition. The blaze, which started in the kitchen, led to the deaths of 48 people in total, mainly from smoke inhalation. DNA tests are underway for identification. An Indian Air Force plane will bring the bodies home once identification is confirmed. Prime Minister Modi has announced ₹2 lakh compensation for the victims' families. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar is coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities for a thorough investigation and repatriation of remains.
