Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level meeting on Wednesday to address the Kuwait fire tragedy, which claimed 49 lives, including 40 Indians. The fire broke out in a residential building in Kuwait's Mangaf area, causing fatalities mostly due to smoke inhalation. PM Modi announced ₹2 lakh ex-gratia relief from the PM's Relief Fund for each Indian victim's family. Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh will visit Kuwait to coordinate relief efforts. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait has set up a helpline and is working closely with local authorities.
