The Chhattisgarh High Court has taken suo moto cognizance of a disturbing incident where a woman was forced to deliver a baby on the floor of a health centre in Surguja district due to the absence of doctors and nurses. The court has directed the Health Department secretary to submit a personal affidavit. The incident occurred on June 8 at Navanagar Sub-Health Centre, where the woman was left unattended until a community health worker helped with the delivery. The court has termed it a "sorry state of affairs" and seeks answers from the Health Department.
