Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and the Indian-American community are advocating for the establishment of an Indian consulate in Los Angeles, the second-largest US city and the entertainment capital. Currently, the US hosts five Indian consulates, with a new one planned for Seattle. Bass, in a letter to India's Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, highlighted the significant tourism flow between India and Los Angeles, emphasizing the consulate's potential to enhance bilateral cooperation and serve the needs of over 100,000 Indian visitors annually. She expressed her willingness to support and collaborate in making the consulate a reality.
