He was admitted to Star Hospital on June 5 due to high blood pressure and breathlessness. His body has been moved to Ramoji Film City, with several prominent leaders and film personalities expected to pay their respects. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled his death, praising Rao's revolutionary contributions to Indian media and film. Born in 1936, Rao led the Ramoji Group, including the Eenadu newspaper, a major Telugu daily. He also won two Filmfare Awards for his work in the film industry.
