The Reserve Bank of India has revised its GDP growth projection for the current fiscal year to 7.2% from 7%, citing rising private consumption and rural demand. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das noted that domestic economic activity has remained resilient, with manufacturing and services sectors showing strength. The central bank expects real GDP growth to reach 8.2% in 2023-24. Despite high growth rates, RBI Deputy Governor Michael Debabrata Patra ruled out concerns of an overheating economy, stating that output levels are still recovering from pandemic-era lows.
