A UK-based NRI, Parvinder Kaur Bhatia, was allegedly duped of shares worth Rs 3.50 crore by Parveen Kumar Bhardwaj, an officer at M/s Competent Finman Pvt Ltd. Bhardwaj had obtained Bhatia's signature on various papers and transferred the shares in his mother's name and others. A cheating case was registered in July 2022, and Bhardwaj was arrested on Wednesday. The police investigation revealed unauthorized share transactions made for personal benefit. The case highlights the vulnerability of NRIs to fraud in India. Further investigation is underway.
