The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Nuruddin alias Rafi, an absconding accused in a terror conspiracy case, from a hideout in Mysuru. Nuruddin was wanted for conspiring to carry out explosions at the US Consulate in Chennai and Israel Embassy in Bengaluru in 2014. He was declared a proclaimed offender and had a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head. The NIA seized mobile phones, a laptop, pen drives, and a drone from his hideout. Nuruddin's arrest resumes the stalled trial against him.

A bomb scare on an Air India flight from Delhi to Vadodara sparked panic among passengers on Wednesday. A note on a tissue paper found in the lavatory mentioned the word "bomb", prompting the crew to alert authorities. The flight was searched, but nothing suspicious was found. The incident occurred at 7:30 pm, and passengers were asked to deboard the flight. Anita Goyal, wife of Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal, passed away on Thursday morning after a battle with cancer. She was part of the company's operations as executive vice president. Naresh Goyal, currently in judicial custody for a money-laundering case, was at their Mumbai residence when she passed away. He had sought interim bail on humanitarian grounds to be with his wife. The death toll in the Mumbai hoarding collapse incident has risen to 16 after two more bodies were retrieved from a trapped car under the billboard. Six family members, including four women, were killed in a tragic accident on Wednesday evening in Odisha's Keonjhar district. The incident occurred on National Highway 520 in the Champua area. Police reported that their car, traveling behind a truck, crashed into it when the truck suddenly braked. A second truck, following too closely, then collided with the car from behind, resulting in the fatalities. All six occupants of the car died at the scene. Their bodies have been sent for autopsy.

More than 300 individuals received Indian citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), with 14 presented certificates by Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla in Delhi. While the applicants' origin wasn't immediately disclosed, a government source revealed most were Pakistani Hindus. Implemented through the Citizenship Amendment Rules, 2024, the CAA aims to grant citizenship to undocumented migrants from six non-Muslim communities in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
