A Noida businessman, Rajat Bothra, was duped of Rs 9.09 crore in an online trading fraud through a WhatsApp group. The group, which promised lucrative stock market profits, convinced Bothra to invest small amounts, eventually leading to a total loss of Rs 9.09 crore. The fraud was reported to the Cyber Crime police station, and Rs 1.62 crore has been frozen in Bothra's account. Investigations are ongoing, with bank accounts linked to the scam traced to Chennai, Assam, Bhubaneswar, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Police are working to recover the remaining amount and apprehend the cyber criminals.

In a significant relief to airlines, hotels, and restaurants, jet fuel and commercial LPG prices have been reduced due to declining global oil prices. ATF price was cut by 6.5% to Rs 94,969.01 per kilolitre, while commercial LPG rate was reduced by Rs 69 to Rs 1,676 per 19-kg cylinder. This is the third consecutive monthly reduction in commercial LPG prices. However, domestic cooking gas prices remain unchanged at Rs 803 per 14.2-kg cylinder. The price drop is expected to benefit airlines, hospitality, and food industries, which have been struggling with high fuel costs.

In a shocking revelation, the Navi Mumbai Police have uncovered a plot to assassinate Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, allegedly armed with weapons from a Pakistani supplier, planned to ambush Khan's car in Panvel. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the conspiracy. This comes after two men fired outside Khan's Mumbai residence on April 14. The police investigation has revealed that the gang acquired high-calibre weapons, including AK-47s and M-16s. Six arrests have been made, although one suspect died in custody, sparking scrutiny. The Bombay High Court has expressed frustration over the incomplete autopsy report.

Shivani Agarwal, mother of a 17-year-old who fatally rammed a Porsche into a bike in Pune on May 19, was arrested for swapping her blood sample with her son's. The accident killed two techies, prompting a police investigation. Forensic reports revealed the tampering, leading to her arrest. The minor, held in an observation home, was initially cleared of intoxication due to the falsified tests. His father, Vishal Agarwal, and grandfather, Surendra Agarwal, were also arrested for allegedly coercing their driver to take the blame. Two doctors implicated in the tampering are in custody.              

India's central bank has moved 100 tonnes of gold from the UK to its vaults in India. This is the first such transfer since 1991. The RBI made this move for logistical reasons and to diversify storage. The gold is stored in Mumbai and Nagpur. In March, RBI held 822.1 tonnes of gold, with 413.8 tonnes overseas. The bank has recently increased its gold purchases, buying 1.5 times more gold from January to April 2024 than in the whole of 2023. This shift highlights India's economic strength and confidence compared to the 1991 crisis.

Eleven poll workers in Mirzapur and Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, died of suspected heatstroke on Friday as temperatures soared to 47°C. Six home guards and three polling personnel in Mirzapur, and two polling personnel in Sonbhadra, were among the victims. Several others are being treated in government hospitals. Officials confirmed the deaths, with post-mortem exams underway. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav demanded ₹5 crore compensation for each victim's family. India's Q4 GDP for FY24 exceeded expectations, expanding by 7.8%, surpassing the 6.2% growth from a year ago. The full fiscal year 2023-24 saw GDP rise to 8.2% compared to 7% in FY23. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman hailed the growth, highlighting a robust 9.9% expansion in the manufacturing sector. However, the agriculture sector slowed to 0.6% growth, and the services sector to 5.1%. Investment activities, reflected in gross fixed capital formation, grew by 6.46%, while private and government consumption expenditures also saw increases. Air India has been issued a notice by the Aviation Ministry after a 20-hour delay on a Delhi-San Francisco flight. Passengers were seen lying in an aerobridge corridor and reported fainting due to lack of air-conditioning. The flight was initially delayed due to operational reasons, and subsequent flight duty time limitations extended the delay. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) criticized Air India for not providing adequate care for passengers and demanded an explanation within three days. About 200 passengers were affected, with many feeling unwell in the intense heat.
