Mewa Singh, a 60-year-old Indian, was killed in New Zealand after being mistaken for a kidnapper. Singh, who had come to New Zealand to support his family and celebrate his grandchild's birth, was punched by a 32-year-old man at Linwood Park in April 2023. 4 Indian-origin people were arrested in Princeton, Texas, US for running a forced labor scheme. Chandan Dasireddy, Santhosh Katkoori, Dwaraka Gunda, and Anil Male were accused of holding 15 women in a house with no furniture, making them sleep on the floor. The women were forced to work for shell companies owned by Katkoori and Gunda. The police investigation began after a pest control worker reported the conditions in March.
