Tens of thousands of Serbian students gathered in Nis on Saturday for an 18-hour anti-corruption rally, demanding justice and reforms following the November 2024 collapse of a train station canopy that killed 15 people. The protests, which have been ongoing since the tragedy, criticize the government's corruption and its handling of public safety. Students emphasize the need for institutions that serve citizens' interests, not political agendas. The body of Himani Narwal, a 22-year-old Congress worker, was discovered in a suitcase near Sampla bus stand in Rohtak on March 1, 2025. In a harrowing account from Chamoli, Uttarakhand, survivors of a recent avalanche shared their terrifying experiences. Vipan Kumar, a worker trapped under heavy snow, thought it was the end as the avalanche slammed into their makeshift housing. Despite the freezing cold and intense pressure, he managed to escape, along with a few others. Some workers crawled barefoot through the snow to safety, while others faced severe injuries. Tragically, one worker remains missing. The survivors, many of whom were employed to clear snow for military access routes, now bear stories of survival amid chaos and loss.
