However, the attack was thwarted due to the actor's tight security, according to the accused's confessions. The shooters, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, had earlier opened fire outside Salman Khan's residence in April, an incident claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Khan has been repeatedly targeted with threats from the gang, leading to increased security measures, including Y+ security and advanced surveillance systems. Siddique was killed in October outside his son’s office in Mumbai.

Chaura, linked to the pro-Khalistan group Babbar Khalsa, approached Badal while he was serving penance at the temple and fired a gun, which narrowly missed Badal. The attack occurred after Badal, in a wheelchair, began performing religious punishment for his role in the 2015 sacrilege case. Chaura had previously been involved in the 2004 Burail jailbreak and was released on bail in 2018.
