Two women died, and 21 others were injured when a bus carrying Maha Kumbh pilgrims crashed into a truck on the Agra-Kanpur highway in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district early Monday. Police said the bus, traveling from Prayagraj to Noida, collided with the truck after the driver fell asleep. SSP Sanjay Kumar Verma confirmed the deceased were Meera (55) and Neelu (35) from Noida. Injured passengers were taken to the district hospital. Authorities used a crane to clear the wreckage. "We are ensuring proper medical treatment for the injured," police stated. The Union Cabinet has approved a new income tax bill to replace the 1961 Income-tax Act, aiming to simplify direct tax laws. The bill removes complex provisions and explanations, ensuring clarity without imposing additional tax burdens. It will be introduced in Parliament next week and sent to the Standing Committee on Finance. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) reviewed 6,500 stakeholder suggestions.
