A 20-year-old man from Sanjak village in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district was allegedly tricked into undergoing sex reassignment surgery at Begrajpur Medical College. His friend, Omprakash Pal, colluded with doctors to perform the surgery, claiming the victim had a medical issue. The victim woke up to find his genitals removed and was threatened by Omprakash to live with him or face consequences. The accused was arrested after protests by the Bharatiya Kisan Union. Police investigation revealed that the victim was lured to the hospital on June 3 and administered anesthesia before the surgery. The incident has sparked outrage and shock in the community.

4 people, including the driver and conductor, died when a Himachal Roads Transport Corporation bus rolled down a hill in Shimla on Friday morning. The bus, en route from Kuddu to Giltadi, veered off the road after traveling 4 km. 2 passengers died on the spot, and 2 others succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. The three injured are being treated at a civil hospital in Rohru. Local residents and police swiftly initiated a rescue operation at the accident site. An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan canceled his Yoga Day event at Delhi University after students protested against alleged scams involving NEET and UGC-NET. The CBI has filed an FIR following the cancellation of the UGC-NET 2024 exam due to alleged paper leaks on the Darknet, announced by the Union Education Ministry. A high-level probe into the matter and the National Testing Agency's (NTA) operations is underway, amid widespread student protests demanding accountability.

A NEET-UG candidate, his uncle, and two middlemen have been arrested in Bihar for leaking the NEET-UG 2024 question paper. Confessions reveal that the paper was leaked on the exam eve and sold for Rs 30-40 lakh per candidate. Middlemen Nitish Kumar and Amit Anand allegedly provided the paper through Sikandar P. Yadavendu, whose nephew was among the four boys who memorized the answers before the May 5 exam. Arrests were made following a vehicle check on the exam day, and the Supreme Court is now involved in the ongoing investigation.

The Indian rupee weakened to a record low of 83.48 against the US dollar due to a strong American currency and increasing global crude oil prices. At the interbank market, the rupee opened at 83.43 before sliding further. Forex experts attributed the decline to subdued domestic equity markets despite continued foreign capital inflows. Anand James from Geojit Financial Services noted the rupee's momentum was halted by external factors, including the dollar index rising marginally. Meanwhile, in local markets, the BSE Sensex dropped 72.43 points, while the NSE Nifty fell by 30.25 points amidst mixed investor sentiment.

Projects include road infrastructure, water supply schemes, and higher education facilities. Modi will also launch the JKCIP project worth Rs 1,800 crore, benefiting 15 lakh people. This evening, he will attend the "Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K" event in Srinagar, distributing over 2,000 government appointment letters. On June 21, he will lead International Yoga Day celebrations at SKICC, promoting the theme "Yoga for Self and Society."
